Why you should buy it:
If you are a fan of time management games, this one is more difficult in terms of the time challenge; game has enough twists to keep you interested.
Jean's Boutique for the iPhone and iPod Touch is yet another foray in the expanding genre of time management games. Running the boutique involves a variety of tasks - taking the waist measurement of walk-in customers, helping them select, try on and decide on what clothes to buy, and finally, wrapping up the shopping package for them. You have a ready, rechargeable reservoir of winks and flattering remarks to extend a customer's patience and improve his/her mood. Upgrades are available at every level as the boutique expands.
Drawing comparisons to the hugely popular Sally's Spa (which I also have), I can concede that the game is indeed inspired by the likes of Sally's Spa. I'd like to point out though, that the similarities end in the graphics and user interface. I find Jean's Boutique more difficult from a time challenge perspective - since the customers in this game are a lot less patient (!) and it's a bit harder to pass the levels.
The instructions/help section need to be revised. A more complete instruction manual would helpful. The game also needs to address certain issues about touch controls and screen responsiveness. For example, I noticed that once I've made a mistake (often in the waist measurements!) whenever I try to move the customer to the next station, it takes a long time for the customer to move, or even not at all.
As for the variety of customers, I find that unlike in most TM games, there is no specific customer's profile to look out for and adjust to. I'm going into the nuances now, but it's an aspect of TM games that makes 'em so fun and interesting to play. For example, in Cooking Dash, there are hippies, gym buffs and yoga masters with varying levels of patience, tipping, and wildly different looks. In Sally's Spa, you have the rich rockstar, the impatient heiress but generous tipper, etc. In Jean's Boutique, they are all incredibly impatient, and other than that, there isn't anything distinctive about them. Even the male customers request female clothing!

All in all, I would say that the game is a diamond in the rough. I truly enjoyed playing it, and I hope there will be changes in the next upgrade. It's got great material, great potential and just needs some tweaking.
